A Barcelona star made an interesting claim about this year's Ballon d'Or top contender.
Barcelona midfielder Gavi made a surprising choice for his candidate to lift the Ballon d'Or, snubbing his teammates Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Barcelona are flying in LALIGA and the Champions League; hence, two of their attacking stars, Raphinha and, to a lesser extent, Yamal, have been constantly spoken about as likely winners of this year's award.

What Gavi said
Barcelona advanced past Benfica in the Champions League last night, and Gavi came in as a substitute to help the Blaugrana see the game off.
Pedri, who played the full 90 minutes, was brilliant in the middle of the park and was rewarded with the Man of the Match for his troubles, despite Yamal and Raphinha both getting a goal and an assist.

Gavi agrees with the sentiments of UEFA's technical committee, hailing Pedri's quality. He then made the bold claim that no player in world football today deserved to win the Ballon d'Or more than the former Las Palmas star.
“Nobody deserves the Ballon D’Or more than Pedri, everyone knows what kind of a player he is,” Gavi said, per Football Espana.
The form of players like Pedri has limited Gavi's playtime in the squad. Originally a central midfielder, he has had to earn his minutes playing as the number 10, as the deeper positions are occupied. This has led to speculations about his future, but Gavi said he does not even consider leaving Barcelona.
