Nigeria's Victor Osimhen is apparently loved in Munich and a Bayern legend believes he would be a better fit for the club than Harry Kane
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen’s proposed move to Bayern Munich has taken a more positive outlook after Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus appeared to rule out another major centre-forward transfer target.

Osimhen has been in incredible form in the 2022/23 season, topping the Serie A scoring charts with 21 goals for Napoli, while also scoring four goals in the UEFA Champions League.

5 UCL records Osimhen could reach against AC Milan
Victor Osimhen is set to star for Napoli against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League and there are a number of milestones he could reach with as little as one goal in the quarterfinal
His three goals over two legs against Frankfurt in the round of 16 helped Napoli to their first UCL quarterfinal in their 97-year history, and the Nigerian forward has quickly gained cult hero status in his short stay in Naples.
Osimhen’s superb form has not gone unnoticed by the “bigger” European clubs, who are circling the Nigeria international with a view to securing a summer move.
Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich have all been linked with a move for Osimhen, and the clubs have not been dissuaded by the Lagos-born striker saying he was comfortable in Napoli, or by his €150 million price-tag.
Bayern Munich in particular are thought to be particularly interested in a move for Osimhen amidst a lack of a trusted centre-forward in the team.
Lothar Matthaus feels Osimhen would be ‘a good fit’ for Bayern Munich
The Bundesliga leaders have also sounded out other strikers, but it appears that Osimhen remains close to the top of their list after the influential ex-midfielder and 1990 Ballon d’Or winner gave reasons why the Super Eagles striker should be the club’s number one pick ahead of Harry Kane and Randal Kolo-Muani.
Speaking about England captain, Kane, Matthaus said, “Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me.
He was a bit kinder to Kolo Muani, saying, “Randal Kolo Muani may need a little more room and space than a Bayern striker usually has, but he's also good in the box and could work in Munich.”
However, when asked who he thought the club should sign, Matthaus responded, “Everyone is talking about Victor Osimhen for his sensational performance at Napoli. You never know if he can do that in Munich, but I think he would be a good fit.”
With Osimhen already receiving the blessings of one of the club’s most distinguished players, and also believed to be manager Thomas Tuchel’s favourite at the moment, the Nigerian striker could find a transfer to Bayern Munich firmly on the cards this summer.
