Nottingham Forest battled to a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Wolves in a captivating encounter at the City Ground, securing a valuable point that lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Facing his former side, Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest manager, aimed to propel his team above Everton and into 16th place with a crucial victory. The match began with both teams showing intent, as Chris Wood came close to breaking the deadlock for Forest early on, only to be denied by Toti Gomes.

How it happened

Nottingham Forest dominated the proceedings in the opening quarter, applying relentless pressure on the Wolves’ defence and causing panic with their attacking forays.

However, against the run of play, Wolves stunned the hosts by taking the lead five minutes before halftime, courtesy of a brilliant solo strike from Matheus Cunha.

Undeterred, Nottingham Forest rallied and were rewarded for their persistence in added time of the first half, as Morgan Gibbs-White found the back of the net to restore parity for the hosts.

The turnaround was complete just before the hour mark when Danilo struck to give Nottingham Forest the lead, sending the City Ground into raptures.

However, the topsy-turvy nature of the game continued as Matheus Cunha netted his second goal of the game for Wolves moments later, ensuring the match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

The result proved to be vital for Nottingham Forest, as it lifted them out of the relegation zone and provided a much-needed boost in their battle for survival in the league.

Despite the disappointment of conceding a late equaliser, Nottingham Forest can take heart from their spirited performance and resilience against a tough opponent. With valuable points gained, Nottingham Forest will look to build on this result and continue their fight for survival in the upcoming fixtures.
