The Liverpool manager has defended his squad following their exit in the fourth round of this year’s FA Cup.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said there will not be changes to his squad despite their 2-1 defeat against Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Liverpool crashed out of the oldest cup competition as goals from Lewis Dunk and Kaoru Mitoma cancelled out Harvey Elliot’s opener.

Brighton dumps out Liverpool

Elliot had put Liverpool ahead in the first half but Dunk’s deflected effort restored parity for Brighton just before half-time.

It looked like the game was heading towards a replay at Anfield until Mitoma’s moment of genius won it for Brighton at the death.

The result ended Liverpool’s title defence having won the competition last year. It also compounded their misery this season, with Liverpool looking like a shadow of their past.

Klopp says no transfer activity

But despite the defeat, Klopp defended his players, saying there is nothing wrong with his squad. The former Borussia Dortmund manager also said the result will not force Liverpool to spend in the transfer market in the next two days.

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will not sign anyone before the deadline day

"Nothing will happen in this transfer window, not at all. It's all good with this squad, Klopp told Bein Sports after the game.

This is Liverpool’s second defeat at the hands of Brighton this month, with the first being a 3-0 lesson in the Premier League.

However, Klopp insists his players played better this time, although they could have defended better.

“We came here after a game a few weeks ago when we weren't even close to ourselves. Today we played a better game but we concede two goals from set-pieces and that is not allowed in any way,” Klopp said as per BBC.

"On the left side, Robbo was ok because we helped him but on the other side Trent didn't get the support.

"Mitoma is really good so, of course, it was tough. "We could have defended both goals better.

"The first is deflected but we can probably block the shot.

"It doesn't feel great. In time we might see the positives but we wanted to get to the next round. Congratulations to Brighton,” Klopp added.
