The Abana Abeingo are gearing up for a crucial departure as they head to Libya for a decisive CAF Confederation Cup encounter.

Kenya's representative in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup, Kakamega Homeboyz are set to depart from Nairobi on Thursday for their second-leg clash against Al Hilal Benghazi.

The clash will be played at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benin, a town 19 km east of Benghazi on Sunday, August 27th.

With their sights firmly set on victory, Homeboyz team manager Boniface Imbenzi has expressed his unwavering optimism.

"Anticipation is building as we gear up to depart Nairobi this coming Thursday, all set for the exhilarating clash against the formidable Libyan side. The prevailing atmosphere within the camp is nothing short of jubilant, with spirits soaring high and optimism radiating through every member,” Imbenzi told Pulse Sports.

"Adding to the excitement, our squad has been graced by good fortune, as we're thrilled to announce that we are stepping onto the field with an injury-free lineup. The unity and dedication pulsating within the team fuel our commitment to deliver outstanding performance, and we assure our fervent fans that we're geared up to secure a remarkable outcome on the opponent's home turf.”

The first-leg encounter between Homeboyz and Al Hilal Benghazi ended in a tense goalless draw at Nairobi's Nyayo Stadium last Sunday.

Despite exhibiting promise and maintaining the upper hand in terms of possession, Homeboyz struggled to break down the steadfast Libyan defense.

This resulted in a scoreless stalemate that left both teams hungry for a decisive result in the upcoming second leg.

In their pursuit of advancing to the next round of this prestigious competition, Homeboyz knows that the path ahead is challenging yet promising.

"Rest assured, we are on a steadfast mission to clinch victory and seize the golden ticket that propels us confidently into the next round of this prestigious competition," Imbenzi asserted.

The forthcoming showdown is not only an opportunity for Homeboyz to prove their mettle but also a chance to cement their position in the tournament.

A scoring draw or a win in this clash will propel them into the coveted first round, where they are poised to face off against Rwandan giants Rayon Sports.
