Muyoti has revealed the two things his side are working on to become unstoppable.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has revealed what his side must do to turn their opening two draws into wins if they are to replicate their brilliant 2021/2022 season when they finished fifth after winning promotion to the top flight.

City Stars have registered two draws in their opening two games against Muhoroni Youth and Bidco United respectively, but in their match against Bidco, they surrendered a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with the reigning Elite Preseason Cup champions.

“So far so good. This is a different start from the previous seasons and we made some changes in the team,” Muyoti said.

“I believe there are changes we made that are coming in handy. They are slowly jelling into the team and as matches go on, the cohesion is going to be there.”

Muyoti is grateful he managed to keep hold of most of his players while beefing up the squad with the addition of some new players, including Japanese winger Yuto Kusaba from FC Zenshin.

“I am expecting a lot from these boys. A majority of those who were there last season are still with us so we are expecting a lot of changes and improvement from last season.”

Muyoti has revealed the side’s build-up play and defense needs work, something that the international break is coming in handy to help him solve those problems.

“We are looking to improve on a lot of things, especially in our build-up and our defense. I think you could see the goal (against Bidco) was a very easy goal. Our defense is there but they are not marking or taking responsibility.

“This is an area we will work on and try to strengthen our team while still working on our build up because I think we had problems with the build up and I think that it was bringing us a lot of problems.

“There was no composure and good communication to ensure that we are building up well. This is an area I will ensure that we work on and before our next match we should be able to build up well and attack.”

City Stars will face Gor Mahia in their third league match of the season.
