Jose Mourinho threw his medal to a fan at the Puskas Stadium, venue of the Europa League final game between Roma and Sevilla. It is not the first time the Portuguese manager will be giving away his medal to a fan, he did while at Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho threw his medal to a young fan shortly after Roma’s Europa League final loss to Sevilla on penalties.

The Serie A club only managed to score one goal during the dramatic shootout as Sevilla were crowned champions for the seventh time.

The Serie A club got the curtain raiser through Paulo Dybala in the first half but the La Liga side responded courtesy of Mancini’s own goal.

The game was decided in penalties after 120 minutes of action as Sevilla emerged victorious in the 4-1 shootouts.

The loss to Roma means Mourinho has lost in his first final in an European competition in his blossoming managerial career.

After the medals were presented to Roma, Mourinho in his usual fashion took the ring off his neck and walked out of the podium.

The Portuguese manager then threw his medal to a young fan at the Puskas Arena in Bucharest who was excited to get precious stone.

Speaking to the RomaPress after the Mourinho said:

“Tonight we died of mental and physical fatigue, there are so many episodes to talk about. Without the trophy in our hands, we are tired and proud.

“You can lose a game, but never your professionalism. I won five finals and lost this one, but I’ve never been more proud than I am tonight. The guys gave it all.”
