Mohammed Kudus Tottenham transfer was a pivotal moment, not just for the talented Ghanaian forward, but for African football.

One of the most notable and unexpected transfers in the 2025 Summer saw one of the best talents from Ghana make a high-profile move across London, with a Mohammed Kudus Tottenham transfer being finalised between West Ham United and Tottenham.

The transfer fee, estimated to be approximately £55 million (€63 million), made Kudus one of the top 20 Most Expensive African Football Transfers in History, and the most expensive Ghanaian transfer in history.

Mohammed Kudus: Ghana's latest big money talent

Kudus, the product of the sacred Right to Dream Academy, soon established a niche as a goal-scoring attacking midfielder and a right winger. His decision to join Ajax in 2020 has seen him evolve into a European superstar, scoring 27 goals in 87 games and scooping several Eredivisie trophies.

His status as a big transfer target was confirmed with a successful debut season in the Premier League in 2023/24 with West Ham as a player known for his breathtaking runs and spectacular goals.

Although his second season at West Ham was less prolific, his great talent saw him transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, for the start of a new chapter.

The West Ham and Tottenham rivalry

The Mohammed Kudus Tottenham transfer was especially famous due to the competition that it overcame at the time.

It was the first player acquisition between the two London rivals since the transfer of Scott Parker in 2011 and it underlines the will of the Spurs hierarchy to get their man.

Kudus supposedly enjoyed the move, being enticed by the European football and the possibility of working with a new head coach, Thomas Frank. One reason that Kudus specifically cited as to why he moved was the fact that Frank had talent development capabilities:

"The project and how the manager perceives that I can develop under him... this is a big sign of why I would have preferred to work under him as well.

What will Mohammed Kudus bring to Tottenham?

Mohammed Kudus is only 25, but he offers a different touch to the Tottenham attack, a combination of flash, power, and confidence.

He is exceptional in beating players on a one-on-one basis, and during his first season in the Premier League, he was among the top players in the number of dribbles successfully made.

The Mohammed Kudus Tottenham deal is an obvious indication of a move to invest in game-changing talent that can break down defences and compete in the top level of European football.
