Barcelona have finally settled their salary payments for Lionel Messi and some of their former players.

The La Liga champions have struggled with financial difficulties, which have limited their spending in recent years.

The Spanish giants failed to pay the salaries of some of their players, leading to debt in the club.

Barcelona will finalise payments to several current and former players on Monday, settling outstanding wages deferred during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Sportal.

The club will disburse approximately €16 million, the final instalment of a total of €47.6 million owed. A significant portion, €5.95 million, will go to former superstar Lionel Messi, the highest earner at Camp Nou in 2020.
