The Real Madrid midfielder allegedly called Greenwood a derogatory word, but LaLiga have decided not to take action

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham may be looking at a two-game ban for his red card following dissent against Valencia last weekend, but he will not face action from the Competition Committee for allegedly calling Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood a ‘rapist’.

Controversial incident involving Bellingham and Greenwood

After a contentious challenge between Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood during a recent match, video footage surfaced showing Bellingham allegedly uttering a word that some interpreted as 'rapist'. However, Bellingham defended himself, claiming he said 'rubbish'.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) launched an investigation into the incident following the uproar. Despite employing a professional lip-reader, the RFEF was unable to definitively determine Bellingham's exact words—whether 'rapist' or 'rubbish'. As a result, the case has been archived, with no further action taken against Bellingham, according to reports in Spain.

Greenwood's Perspective

Greenwood reportedly expressed his desire for the case to be dropped after reports first emerged of the incident involving Bellingham.

The 22-year-old forward, currently on loan at Getafe from Manchester United, had previously faced serious accusations of attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault with bodily harm. However, the case against him was dropped after key witnesses withdrew from the proceedings.

Outcome for Bellingham

Despite escaping punishment for the alleged remark, Bellingham is still set to face a suspension for his dissent against Valencia.

While the investigation into the incident involving Greenwood has concluded without repercussions for Bellingham, the focus remains on the disciplinary actions stemming from his on-field behavior.

As the saga comes to a close, both Bellingham and Greenwood can now turn their attention back to the pitch as they continue their respective campaigns for their clubs.
