Marcus Rashford has brought some individual joy to an otherwise disappointing Manchester United season by winning the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for his thunderous strike during March's Manchester derby.

Rashford's effort, his sixth against City throughout his career, was arguably his finest in a United shirt. He unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards out, leaving Ederson with no chance after a fantastic hold-up by Bruno Fernandes.

Unfortunately, the goal wasn't enough to secure a derby victory, as Manchester City stormed back in the second half to clinch all three points, winning 3-1.

Rashford clinch individual award despite struggling

Manchester United have struggled under Erik ten Hag, and this has not been the best of seasons for Marcus Rashford but the Englishman has secured a personal achievement to cheer himself up.

This award marks his first Goal of the Month win in his eight seasons with the senior team. It also adds to United's impressive record – they're the first club with four different players to win the award in the same season.

On their day, Manchester United have such massive offensive firepower - Bruno Fernandes, with his volley against Burnley in September and his recent stunner against Liverpool, could be a contender for future accolades.

Alejandro Garnacho's audacious overhead kick against Everton and Kobbie Mainoo's curling effort against Wolves are also strong contenders for Goal of the Season.

United Chasing History: A Third Consecutive Goal of the Month Award

With Mainoo potentially challenging Bruno for a nomination in April, United has a chance to create history. Never before has a team won three consecutive Goal of the Month awards.

Their back-to-back success this season echoes the feat achieved by Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jonny and Matheus Nunes last season.

While the team's overall performance might not be ideal, these incredible goals are a bright spot for United fans, showcasing the team's attacking talent and providing hope for the future.
