The manager believes Rashford is still motivated to help the Red Devils achieve their goals this season, including securing a Champions League spot.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has thrown his support behind Marcus Rashford, despite the England international's recent struggles and subsequent criticism.

Rashford found himself benched for Thursday's dramatic 4-3 defeat to Chelsea, making a minimal impact after coming on as a substitute.

This decision follows a period of underwhelming performances, reigniting criticism from pundits like Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Rio Ferdinand.

He explained that the benching was a tactical decision to keep him fresh for the upcoming clash against Liverpool.

The manager believes Rashford is still motivated to help the Red Devils achieve their goals this season, including securing a Champions League spot.

He said, "I don't know what Gary Neville was saying, but lately, his (Rashford’s) form is progressing.

"He has a big motivation because he wants to be successful with us. He wants to win trophies and score goals. But he wants to win and to contribute, and we have a chance with the FA Cup.

"He wants to fight for a Champions League spot and the Euros are coming. So his motivation should be high. Before Brentford, he scored three goals in three games," he told Daily Mail.
