Erik Ten Hag is said to be already impressed by United’s target.

Manchester United will table a bid to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford next week.

United will table a £45 million offer for the England international, whom they consider a replacement for David de Gea.

Speculation is rife that De Gea will either leave the club or be made the number two goalkeeper when the season begins.

The Spaniard – who has made more than 500 appearances for United - won the Golden Glove even though he made glaring mistakes that proved costly for the Old Trafford outfit last season.

He is going to be a free agent in a couple of weeks, but is set to remain at the club since Ten Hag still has confidence in him. He will, reportedly, take a pay-cut if he chooses to remain with the English Premier League club.

And given the uncertainty in the Spaniard’s future, United have identified Pickford as an alternative option, and a bid is set to be tabled next season.

The Toffees goalkeeper is admired by Ten Hag, who would want to have him in his squad.

Should Pickford, who has made 237 appearances for the Merseyside club, move to Old Trafford, his salary will double.

Critics and pundits believe that De Gea’s time at Old Trafford is up and he should leave in order to create space for a new number one.
