Manchester City are considering making a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze after dropping out of Lucas Paqueta’s deal.

The Citizens are currently in the transfer market for a midfielder after the departure of Ilkay Gundogan and the recent injury to Kelvin De Bruyne.

Lucas Paqueta became Man City’s first target but the recent allegation of a possible betting breach against the Brazilian made them pull out of the race.

They have now turned their attention to Crystal Palace midfielder, Eberechi Eze as a possible replacement according to reports.

Eberechi Eze on Man City radar

According to Mail Sport, City have been keeping an eye on the Crystal Palace midfielder for the previous six months after senior scouts were blown away by his control of games for the Eagles.

The long-term injury to star player Kelvin De Bruyne has made Man City good deep into the transfer market for a replacement.

The Belgian have been struggling with an injury since the Champions League final against Inter Milan and aggravated it in their first game of the season against Burnley.

He has been sidelined for several months after good through a surgery a few weeks ago according to reports.

The Treble winners are still looking for a midfielder given the sudden turnaround on the Paqueta transfer move.

Following a standout two years at Selhurst Park, Eze was awarded his first England cap by Gareth Southgate in June and has since drawn attention from around the Premier League.

Eze's current deal only has two years left, so any potential offer will probably put Palace's determination to the test.

With the transfer window set to close next week, Palace is looking to demand a fee worth £70 million for their star player according to reports.
