Chelsea's midfielder on loan at AC Milan, Tiemoue Bakayoko, is said to have attracted interests from Olympique Lyon
Olympique Lyon are said to have opened talks with Chelsea for the transfer of Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The 28-year-old midfielder signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2017 from Monaco and has since spent loan spells at AC Milan, Monaco, and Napoli. He is currently on loan at AC Milan.
Bakayoko to Chelsea
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Lyon are currently holding talks over the transfer of Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is now on loan at AC Milan.
The French are reportedly in the market for a midfielder and have earmarked Bakayoko as a target.
Lyon would rely on their existing relationship with the London club, having recently sold right-back Malo Gusto to them. The signing of Bakayoko would be an provide an extra body in midfield for Lyon who lost Lucas Paqueta to West Ham in the summer, albeit with different midfield functions.
The signing of Bakayoko, if it happens, would be Lyon’s ninth signing this season, after notably signing their former players Correntin Tolliso and Alexandre Lacazette in the summer. The former, Tolliso, has struggled with injuries since signing for Lyon requiring Les Gonesto want to bring in an extra body in midfield.
Bakayoko himself has barely featured for AC Milan this season, in fact, he is yet to feature for the Rossoneri this season.
Chelsea themselves are looking to make reinforcements in midfield, with chief members of their ownership consortium Todd Bhoely and Behdad Egbali working hard on the transfer of Enzo Fernandez.
Graham Potter has already lost a body in midfield this window, with Jorginho moving north to Arsenal, and are set to have another midfielders off their books in Bakayoko, although he does not currently play for Chelsea.
