Red-hot Liverpool were too tough for Nottingham Forest as Klopp's men thrashed Steve Coppers' side.

Liverpool were looking to get back to the top four and need to get a win against Nottingham Forest.

They were to get the deserved win by thrashing Forest 4-0 to return to fourth position in the Premier League table.

Goals from Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were enough to get past Nottingham Forest.

As it happened

Darwin Nunez made a comeback to the Liverpool starting lineup from their previous Premier League game with Luis Diaz not involved due to the shocking news yesterday.

Moussa Niakhate and Ola Aina returned to the starting XI, while Harry Toffolo dropped to the bench for Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest were without forwards Callum Hudson-Odoi and Divock Origi because of injury. There is no Chris Wood either but Anthony Elanga has recovered from illness to feature.

The game started with Liverpool dominating most of the possessions. A few minutes later, the Reds took the lead.

Mohamed Salah played the ball to Darwin Nunez and he shot first-time across goal. Goalkeeper Matt Turner parries the ball but only straight to Diogo Jota who finishes into the unguarded net.

The second goal came a few minutes later after a fine move started on the left flank inside their own half before being switched to the right wing.

Mohamed Salah, on the corner of the penalty area, played a perfectly weighted pass inside to the charging Dominik Szoboszlai.

He pulled it back from the byline and Darwin Nunez was there to finish into the roof of the net, with Liverpool leading 2-0 at halftime.

Liverpool came back for the second half looking sharp but took them a long time before they could add to their tally.

The third goal came in the 77th minute when Liverpool managed to clear the ball and they launched it upfield through Dominik Szoboszlai.

Turner sprinted out of his penalty area and misjudged the bounce of the ball. It zips over him and Mohamed Salah can't believe his luck to slot the ball into the unguarded net.

Liverpool were too good for Nottingham Forest with the game ending in a 3-0 win after the final whistle.
