Liverpool are set to face Chelsea on Tuesday after getting trashed 4-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Luis Diaz and Thiago's fitness status has been updated by Jurgen Klopp. Tuesday night's matchup between the Reds and Chelsea is an opportunity for them to pick up their first victory since being destroyed 4-1 by Manchester City.

Following Graham Potter's dismissal, Klopp will square off against Blues interim manager Bruno Saltor at Stamford Bridge.

Klopp gives update on Diaz and Thiago

Jurgen Klopp has provided positive updates on both Diaz and Thiago's rehabilitation before the game but excluded both from Tuesday's match.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said, “Luis Diaz, no he’s not available but he’s in training.

“He’s not ready for this game, but as much as we want to have him back, we have to give him time.

“It’s long ago that he had the initial injury, but when he came back to training in Dubai it looked outstanding – until he got injured again. We have to make sure that we are patient in that moment.”

Thiago's present position was later clarified by Klopp, who said the 31-year-old midfielder is back in full training following a protracted hip injury. Both might be eligible for Liverpool's encounter against Arsenal or Leeds.

Still speaking, Klopp said, “So this week, I wouldn’t say Arsenal is completely out of the picture, but it’s rather unlikely. After that then Luis will be back.

“We had Thiago yesterday in normal team training which is good as well but he’s not available for tomorrow, of course so we will see how he reacts.”
