Silko Thomas Otieno, Leicester City's rising star, remains available for a Harambee Stars call-up despite impressive performances in England.

Leicester City prodigious talent Silko Thomas Otieno is quickly making his name in the football world, one goal at a time.

The Kenyan winger, known for his versatility and on-field brilliance, was once again on target for the Leicester City development squad in their recent Football League Trophy match against Tranmere.

With the match barely into its tenth minute, Otieno made his presence felt, scoring the opening goal. What made this performance even more notable was his continuous presence on the field throughout the 90 minutes.

Following the match, the development squad has climbed its way to third place in the group standings, boasting two victories in as many games this season.

Silko’s pivotal role in these achievements cannot be overlooked. The youngster has now scored three goals in his six appearances since trading his Chelsea blue for Leicester's vibrant shade.

Aged just 19, Otieno’s journey in the world of football is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Having started his football journey with Chelsea as an Under-10 player, he honed his skills with the Premier League giants for nearly a decade.

However, fate had other plans when Chelsea decided he was surplus to their requirements, releasing him as a free agent. His brief association with Sunderland, as a trialist, didn't lead to a long-term commitment, paving his path to the Foxes.

During a past interview, reflecting on a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Fulham, Otieno candidly addressed the team's challenges.

“I think it's just something we need to work on as a team. In the few games since the start of the season, we've been scoring the first few goals and then, in the last few minutes, conceding. Sometimes I've noticed that when they score, our heads just drop. It's a mentality thing. We need to see it as a challenge, regroup, and push forward. However, as observed in games, the team's morale tends to plummet. This is something we need to reflect upon and improve in subsequent matches," he said.

Despite his roots tracing back to Kenya, Otieno has donned the England jersey at the under-15 and under-18 levels during his blossoming career.

His performances for the Three Lions have been noteworthy, with a tally of seven goals and eight assists to his name. Yet, the rising star remains available for a call-up from the Harambee Stars, Kenya's senior side, a team he's yet to represent.

Snapped up as a free agent post his Chelsea departure, many view Leicester’s acquisition as a strategic masterstroke, especially given his current form and potential.
