The Harambee Stars forward netted his first goal since recovering from an ACL injury to help St.Mirren get back to winning ways on Saturday.

There was relief on Harambee Stars striker Jonah Ayunga’s face as he finally netted his first goal for St.Mirren since returning from a nine-month injury to cap off a Man-of-the-Match display during their 2-0 win over Ross County on Saturday evening.

Ayunga clocked 77 minutes under his belt, producing three shots on target. He also completed one successful dribble, made two key passes, and created one big chance.

He won four out of eight ground duels and generally had a good day in the office. It was his fourth appearance of the season since getting injured in February.

There was an air of disappointment in the stands when it emerged Keanu Baccus was not in the starting line-up. Robinson noted pre-match that he had been jaded in recent games due to his extensive travelling to represent Australia.

However, he was introduced after just 18 minutes due to Caolan Boyd-Munce's injury. An opportunity for a breather following a fast start.

Jordan White headed over the bar for Ross County, but the zip that has become so synonymous with St Mirren's play could not be halted.

Twice Ayunga stung the palms of Laidlaw following strong breakaways, while Greg Kiltie cracked the crossbar after slick play with Stav Nahmani, who also tested the Ross County shot-stopper towards the end of the first half.

Ross County could not ride their luck much longer, though. While the opener was messy, the second was magnificent.

Nothing less than Ayunga's impressive game deserved. It was third time lucky as he broke away from the Ross County defence and slammed beyond Laidlaw.

St Mirren host Motherwell next Saturday, 16 December, while Ross County welcome Dundee at the same time.
