Kenya’s hopes of performing well in the continental competitions for next year now lie squarely and purely in the hands of Homeboyz given Gor Mahia were kicked out of the CAF Champions League after failing to settle the dues of three of their former players on time, leaving the federation with no choice but to revoke their ticket.

Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has already moved big in the market by making sure that head coach Patrick Odhiambo strengthens the squad well enough to be competitive in the second tier African competition.

The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place between 18th and 20th August for the first leg and between 25th and 27th August for the return leg.

Kakamega earned a place in the competition by winning the FKF Cup at the beginning of the month after they floored Tusker 1-0 at the Kasarani Stadium.

The stakes are high for Kakamega Homeboyz FC, as the winner of this first-round fixture will move on to face Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the second preliminary round.
