Ivory Coast’s Konan to officiate WAFU B U-20 final between Ghana, Nigeria final

Nigeria's Falconet will square off against host Ghana in the final that will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Ivorien referee, Natacha Gerardine Konan, to officiate the final match of the WAFU B U-20 Women Championship between Nigeria and Ghana.

Pulse Sports had reported that Nigeria's Falconet will square off against host Ghana in the final that will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday.

Officials for finals

Konan will be assisted by her compatriot, Ndeko Edwige Appia as assistant referee one, Ami Kouma and Jacqueline Nikiema from Burkina Faso will serve as assistant referee two and fourth official respectively while Baptista Mariette Toi from Benin Republic will be the match commissioner.

Nigeria's U-20 girls, the Super Falconets

The third-place game between Burkina Faso and Benin Republic, which will take place at the same location, will be officiated by Togolian Edoh Kindedji.

Sakina Hamidou Alfa from the Niger Republic will serve as Kindedji's first assistant, Beauty Kabenda Terah from Nigeria will serve as the second assistant, and Rita Boateng-Nkansah from Ghana will serve as the fourth official.

For both games, Ghanaian Augustina Fugah will act as the referee assessor while Nigerian Ruth David will serve as the match commissioner.

6 Falconets players named in CAF's group stage Best XI

CAF listed six players from Nigeria’s U20 women’s team in the Best XI Team of the group stage at the ongoing 2023 WAFU Zone B U-20 Women's Cup.

Alongside the Nigerian girls, includes four Ghanaian players and one Burkinabe.

The Falconets had during the group stages, put up an impressive perfromance that saw them finish at the top of Group B with three wins, nine points, and a remarkable 16 goals scored in three matches (without conceeding).

The performance saw CAF on Monday, name goalkeeper Anderline Mgbaechi, left-back Jumoke Alani, centre-back Shukurat Oladipo, and right-back Oluchi Ohaegbukem in the defensive lineup of the group stage.

In the heart of the midfield, Chinyere Kalu was named alongside two Ghanaian stars, while the competition's leading scorer Esther Ajakaye secured her spot in the attack alongside Ghana’s Nyame and Burkina Faso’s Sadikou.
