Nigeria Women's Football League announce new dates for Super 6 playoffs

The 2023 edition of the NWFL playoff will take place in Asaba, Delta State.

The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) have confirmed that the 2023 Super 6 championship playoff will kick off five days earlier than planned.

The adjustments comes following the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) effort to meet the deadline for countries to submit representatives for the WAFU-B playoff for the CAF Women's Champions League later this year.

NWFL Super 6 to now hold from June 6

With this, the tournament originally scheduled to run from Friday, June 9 to Friday, June 16, will now hold from Monday, June 6 to Sunday, June 11, 2023.

According to the competiton's programme schedule, as announced by the NWFL, this year’s Super 6 will see teams arrive on Monday June 5 with the official draw holding the same day.

The playoff will take place in Asaba, Delta State.

Heavyweight vying for league title

Participating teams are Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens and Robo Queens following their qualifications from the regular season concluded in April 2023.

In Group A, Edo Queens finished as group winners with 25 points from 12 matches, followed by Robo Queens in second with 22 points and Confluence Queens in third with 21 points.

Delta Queens claimed the top spot in Group B, with 26 points, just one ahead of title holders Bayelsa Queens sit in second and Rivers Angels in third with 20 points from 12 games.
