Former Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood speculated on how much value Mohamed Salah has for the Saudi Pro League

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood posited that a Mohamed Salah transfer to the Saudi Pro League could spell the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s time in the Gulf, amid the Portugal international’s dispute with the league’s administrators.

What Sherwood said

As Pulse Sports reported, the 41-year-old has missed Al Nassr’s last two games despite being fit and well. His absence is believed to be in protest against the PIF over the perceived lack of investment in Al Nassr, particularly when compared to other clubs owned by the investment fund after Al-Hilal snapped up Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad.

Ronaldo’s continued absence has become major news, prompting the league to put out a statement clarifying that funds are distributed fairly, contesting the grounds for the Portuguese forward’s protest.

Sherwood has weighed in on the situation, sarcastically jibing Ronaldo for making demands after his recent contract, which helped him officially become a billionaire.

"You’ve got to feel sorry for Cristiano Ronaldo, haven’t you? Who wouldn’t feel aggrieved that they’re not signing players how he wants them signed when he’s on £500k a day?” he said sarcastically, per Goal.

“He’s got every right to throw a tantrum, right? I mean, what is he talking about? If I was on £500k a day I’d be asking them what do you want me to do, and when do you want me to do it?

He then spoke about the likelihood of Salah moving to the Pro League after his fallout with Arne Alot and dip in form increased the likelihood of him moving to Saudi Arabia in the summer. Sherwood believes that this could affect Ronaldo.

“Will Mohamed Salah moving out there mean the end of Ronaldo’s time in Saudi Arabia? Absolutely, but then again, he’s always had his battles. It’s been Lionel Messi all down the years, and we’ve been blessed to witness the era of watching football that had Ronaldo and Messi around.

“They’re both football gods, and now we’ve got the Egyptian god as well, Mo Salah, who is fantastic, and I’m pleased he’s still in the Premier League, but he won’t be here next season.

“He’ll be off in the summer, and it probably will be to Saudi Arabia to fill up the till like everyone else, and there will be no bigger star than Salah when he goes over there. I just hope this whole story isn’t how it has been portrayed for Ronaldo because it doesn’t look good for him, does it?"
