Liverpool's goalkeeper has sent a warning to new boss Arne Slot, admitting the time may have come to leave Anfield.

Kelleher has been at Liverpool since 2015. But since joining the senior team in 2019, he's mostly been backup for Alisson.

In that time, he has played just 47 times for the Reds, 26 of those came last season when Alisson was injured for 8 weeks.

Kelleher threatens to quit Liverpool

Speaking to the Athletic, Kelleher revealed that he doesn't want to spend another season as Alisson's backup at Liverpool.

"It was the first time in my career that I’d had a spell like that and I loved it," he reflected.

"I thrived on it. I'd been waiting for a moment like that. It was a massive opportunity for me to be Liverpool's No 1 for that long.

"I would love to be first-choice and It would be great if that happened at Liverpool, but I'm not silly. I know that Ali has been the best goalkeeper in the world for years.

"I love the club, I love the fans and I have a great relationship with the players and the staff.

"Whether it's here at Liverpool or somewhere else, I do feel the next step for me is to be a No 1."
