Manchester United could lose one of their best players at the end of the current season, according to reports.
Liverpool icon Michael Owen has warned that replacing Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford will be nearly “impossible” if the club chooses to cash in on their captain this summer.
The former England international acknowledged that while the Red Devils might be tempted by a massive transfer fee, losing the Portuguese playmaker would create a void in the team that few players in world football could fill.

Could Bruno Fernandes leave Manchester United in the summer?
After rejecting lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League last summer to remain in Manchester, the 31-year-old remains a primary target for Middle Eastern clubs looking to make a statement signing in 2026.
Despite the potential for a high-value sale, Owen believes the sporting risk far outweighs the financial gain. Speaking to Metro, the former United and Liverpool striker analyzed the dilemma facing the club's leadership.
“It’s an interesting one, isn’t it, because of his age," Owen said.
"He has the skills and the experience he brings, but it’s a business, and everyone has a price. If a lot of money is coming in, someone needs to make the decision about it. He’s obviously on big wages as well."
Since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020, the midfielder has been the heartbeat of the side, racking up a staggering 104 goals and 99 assists in 315 matches. It is this consistent output that Owen fears United will struggle to replicate.
“But if he leaves, it will really hurt them," Owen added.
"They will need to find someone else who is really good. It’s a tough decision because he’s so talented, and you can see why a big club like Manchester United might consider selling him if a lot of money is offered for someone his age. Trying to replace him would be almost impossible."
