Silko Amari has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at Leicester after joining on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer and has been recognised for his efforts.

Kenyan rising talent Silko Thomas Amari Otieno received recognition among the brightest prospects in Leicester City's youth setup as he clinched the Men’s Development Squad Player of the Season award on Tuesday night.

The prestigious event, held at the King Power Stadium, celebrated the achievements of both the men’s and women’s teams of the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who plies his trade with the Under-21 squad, showcased exceptional form throughout April with Leicester City PL2, earning him a nomination for the Premier League 2 awards for the month.

Notably, he has netted five goals for the Under-21s in Premier League 2 this season and earned a call-up to the first-team squad for the Emirates FA Cup clash against Birmingham City.

Silko's journey began at Carshalton Athletic, where he spent two seasons before catching the eye of a Chelsea scout. This led to an invitation to a summer camp and eventually a place in the academy.

His performances in the UEFA Youth League, making six appearances and contributing a goal and three assists, highlighted his potential. Additionally, he found the back of the net in the FA Youth Cup before making the switch to Leicester City.

Currently, Leicester City sits 20th in the 26-team league, having amassed 20 points from 20 matches, with the standings subject to change based on results elsewhere.

The team is set to travel to Hong Kong next month to compete in the HKFC Soccer Sevens tournament.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jutta Rantala have both scooped a brace of major prizes at Leicester City’s End of Season Awards, sponsored by Cedar Packaging Group – winning Player and Players’ Player of the Season in their respective categories.

Academy graduate Dewsbury-Hall has been an integral figure for Enzo Maresca’s men in 2023/24 – inspiring the Foxes back to the top flight with 12 goals and 15 assists. That sensational individual return has been rewarded with an awards double, earning recognition not only from the Blue Army but also his Leicester team-mates.

For the second time in three years, Leicester’s No.22 has taken home the Players’ Player of the Season award – voted by his team-mates.
