Impressive performance in friendly match boosts the Western Kenya-based side confidence for upcoming Season

National Super League (NSL) side Gusii FC have expressed their satisfaction and optimism after a 1-1 draw against Tanzanian powerhouse Biashara United Mara in an exhilarating international friendly at the Karume Stadium in Musoma.

The match showcased the team's determination and readiness as they gear up for the upcoming 2023/2024 league season, following their seventh-place finish in the previous campaign.

Kennedy Obare emerged as the hero of the match, netting the solitary goal that secured the well-fought draw for the Kenyan side.

The result left the team management and fans jubilant, highlighting the team's potential to take on formidable opponents. 

Hillary Jim, the team manager, expressed his contentment at the invitation to face Biashara United Mara and stressed its importance as part of the team's preparation for the upcoming league season.

"We were happy for the invitation as we prepare for the new season that is set to kickoff next month," Jim stated. 

The team manager went on to commend the level of play exhibited by both sides, highlighting the parity between the standards of Tanzanian football and their own country's league. 

"We wanted a new experience, and we have seen that the levels of Tanzanian football are the same as ours in the country," Jim added.

Talks are already in progress to arrange a return match on their home turf before the commencement of the league. 

"We are also in discussions with Biashara United to come and play against us before the league commences,” he concluded.

Gusii  journey in the new season will start with a match against the formidable Vihiga Bullets, a former FKF Premier League side.

 The opening encounter promises to be a riveting clash, where Gusii FC will aim to establish their dominance and set a tone for the battles that lie ahead. 

Meanwhile, another intriguing fixture will see Mathare United, a former FKF Premier side, square off against the newly minted Nairobi United at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi.
