Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has shared an update on Erling Haaland’s back injury ahead of this weekend's clash against Burnley.

Manchester City welcome Burnley to the Etihad Stadium this Saturday, aiming to close the eight-point gap that has opened up between them and league leaders Liverpool.

The good news for Pep Guardiola is the timely return of his star striker, Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland is expected to be fully fit for Manchester City's game against Burnley.

Despite the team’s underwhelming start to the season, Haaland has been in sensational individual form, netting 13 goals in eight appearances for club and country.

The 25-year-old was substituted late in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal last weekend after complaining of a back pain, which saw him sit out the midweek Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town.

Guardiola expects Haaland to be fit for Burnley

Addressing concerns at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Guardiola offered a simple confirmation: “He’s ready.”

Haaland’s availability is a significant boost given that his fellow centre-forward, Omar Marmoush, is sidelined with a knee injury.

The treatment room is currently busy, with Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri also unavailable, alongside Abdukodir Khusanov, who was forced off against Arsenal with an ankle issue.

In more positive news, Guardiola suggested that Mateo Kovacic, who has been recovering from an Achilles injury and has not played since last season, might be fit enough to make his return against Burnley.

“[It would help] a lot to have Kova back. It’s a long injury, surgery, but he is getting ready. He is not fully ready but step-by-step,” the manager commented.
