Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann gave his former national teammate an Ademola Lookman jersey.
Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann gifted his former national teammate Samuel Umtiti a jersey from Ademola Lookman, after the Nigerian’s exceptional performance against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Griezmann and Umtiti won the World Cup with France in 2018 and became teammates at Barcelona for two seasons. The centre-back was in attendance for the Copa del Rey clash between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, and he picked up souvenirs after the game.
Umtiti gets Lookman’s jersey
Lookman was the star of the show, as Rojiblancos thumped Barcelona 4-0 at Wanda Metropolitano to take a sizable advantage into the second-leg at Camp Nou.
Griezmann also scored in the game against his former club, after which he handed Umtiti a signed jersey. According to DAZN Football, he also gifted the Frenchman a jersey for Nigeria international Lookman.
Griezmann’s gesture, or possibly Umtiti’s request, underscores Lookman’s growing prominence in the game, especially after joining Atletico Madrid instead of Fenerbahce, which supports the opinion of many Nigerians who have praised the CAF POTY’s decision.
Meanwhile, Umtiti is enjoying life after football after announcing his retirement in September last year, following a spate of injuries. He recently discussed his time at Barcelona on the Elevate Football show, revealing Lionel Messi’s competitive edge.
