Maurizio Sarri was reportedly hospitalised at a private clinic in Rome on Wednesday morning.

As reported by the reputable La Repubblica, Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri, 66, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday due to a sudden deterioration in his health.

Sarri is currently in the private clinic Villa Mafalda in Rome, and so far, there's no official information about his exact health issue.

Lazio have since confirmed that Sarri has left the hospital, that he is on his way back to Formello and that he will lead training at 17.00 on Wednesday evening (18.00 local time).

“Coach Sarri is returning to Formello, and will lead the training session at 18.00 as usual and as scheduled,” a statement read.

“This morning, he underwent a thorough fitness check, one that was more comprehensive than the tests conducted on the players at the training centre,” the slightly vague message concluded.

Sarri signed a new two-year contract a few weeks ago, with an option for a further season.

He remains under medical supervision, and it's unclear when he'll return to his duties.
