FKF has barred Hussein Mohammed from AGM raising concerns about fairness in the upcoming elections for the federation's presidential position in October 2024.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced that presidential aspirant Hussein Mohammed will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for March 16 in Nairobi.

The decision has stirred controversy as the AGM is set to deliberate on significant matters such as the election dates, venues, and the selection of an electoral body for the forthcoming elections in October 2024.

Hussein Mohammed, known for his official role at the FKF Premier League team Murang’a Seal, had his aspirations to stand for election this year thwarted by a letter from the FKF.

The letter, addressed to the Murang'a Seal Chairman and dated March 11, explicitly states Mohammed's ineligibility to represent the club at the FKF Congress.

"We are in receipt of your correspondence nominating Mr. Hussein Mohammed as Murang'a SEAL FC's delegate in the upcoming FKF Congress," the letter reads.

It further elaborates, "Following a comprehensive review...we would like to inform you that Mr. Hussein Mohammed is not registered with FKF as a member of Murang'a SEAL FC or FKF in general... Mr. Hussein Mohammed is therefore ineligible to represent Murang'a SEAL FC in the upcoming FKF Annual General Meeting."

The FKF's letter, signed by CEO Barry Otineo, also clarifies that Murang'a SEAL FC is officially registered under the name Murang'a Sports Excellence Academy Limited, with Mr. Robert Kenneth Wanyoike Macharia being identified as the sole director of the entity, thereby recognized for FKF activities.

This development comes amid heightened interest in the FKF presidential polls, with several notable figures, including Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ocholla and former Kenyan international Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino, declaring their intentions to contest for the federation's top seat.
