Victor Osimhen netted his first goal of the season in the Champions League against Barcelona.

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen's goal against Barcelona in the Champions League has been nominated for goal of the week by UEFA.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Osimhen was the hero as SSC Napoli avoided defeat at home following a 1-1 draw against the LALIGA champions on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles superstar returned to action for the troubled Serie A champions and proved why he is the club’s main man by saving their blushes at home.

With Barcelona ahead thanks to a 60th-minute strike by Robert Lewandowski, the 25-year delivered a clutch moment to force a share of the spoils.

Victor Osimhen netted on his return to action with Napoli in the UC.

Receiving a pass from fellow African and Cameroonian star, Frank Andre-Anguissa, Osimhen produced a graceful turn to leave his marker dead and finished off with a clinical low drive with 13 minutes left to play.

That amazing equaliser has been nominated as one of the UEFA Champions League's top goals of the week.

Osimhen, will however, have to fight off stunning efforts from Porto's Galeno, Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, and Borussia Dortmund's Donyell Malen in UEFA's weekly fan vote.

The deft turn and finish was the first of the season for the African Footballer of the Year in the competition this season. His combination of skill and composure for the strike showed what has made the AFCON 2023 star one of Europe's most feared marksmen.
