Barcelona reduce the deficit on Real Madrid thanks to an exciting performance in the win over Las Palmas.

Barcelona complicated matters for themselves and could have gotten a more convincing victory, but they did enough to get maximum points with a 1-0 win over 10-man Las Palmas.

Barcelona players returned from the international break unscathed; hence, Xavi named a strong 11, bar Ronald Araujo, who remained unused as Blaugrana hosted the Canary Island club at Montjuic.

Xavi's team have a penchant for tepid 1-0 wins, but the victory over Garcia Pimenta's side was as lively and chaotic as it gets. Barcelona had two goals ruled out for offside and missed a glut of chances, but Raphinha's second-half header earned them the three points.

How it happened

Robert Lewandowski was denied an early goal due to offside as early as the fifth minute of the game, declaring the Blaugrana's intent to play on the front foot.

Despite their efforts, Barcelona struggled to break through Las Palmas' last line of defense, with goalkeeper Álvaro Valles making crucial saves.

Las Palmas suffered a setback, however, when Valles received a red card for a reckless challenge on Raphinha, leaving them with ten men for the majority of the match. Despite the numerical advantage, Barcelona couldn't capitalise until João Félix's introduction turned the tide.

Félix's quick impact led to Raphinha's decisive header, giving Barcelona the lead. Although Félix missed a chance to extend the lead, and Las Palmas conjured a late scare, Barcelona held on for the win, narrowing the gap to league leaders Real Madrid and leaving Las Palmas in 12th place after their third consecutive defeat.
