Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella are reportedly set to welcome a new manager to Bayer Leverkusen next season.

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly considering former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag as a potential replacement for Xabi Alonso, who has announced his decision to leave the club this summer.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Ten Hag is the frontrunner as Leverkusen brace themselves for an approach from Real Madrid, with manager Carlo Ancelotti expected to leave at the end of the season.

Ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United earlier this season and replaced by Ruben Amorim, and is currently unemployed and seeking the right managerial opportunity.

Despite winning the League Cup and FA Cup with Manchester United, the Dutch tactician struggled to improve the club’s Premier League performance.

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, is evaluating candidates, with former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez also in the frame.

Ten Hag’s successful tenure at Ajax, where he led the team to a Champions League semifinal and multiple league titles, further bolsters his credentials for the Leverkusen job, despite his challenges at Manchester United.
