Nicholas Muyoti has revealed when the Japanese will finally make his debut for the Simba wa Nairobi.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has revealed the timeframe new Japanese signing Yuto ‘Mitoma’ Kusaba will make his much anticipated FKFPL debut after signing from FC Zenshin nearly a fortnight ago.

After his signing, numerous reports had stated that it would take him until January to kick a ball for the Simba wa Nairobi, but Pulse Sports can authoritatively confirm that he could make his debut as early as this month after Muyoti clarified the situation.

“Yuto the Japanese, they are still working on his papers,” Muyoti said. “ I hope by the time before the window is closed, we will have signed him and he is going to be our player,” he added.

The transfer window does not shut until Friday 15 September, the weekend when FKFPL action will resume, which implies that Kusaba could be clocking minutes under his belt before September is over.

In March 2023, Kusaba, who has drawn direct comparisons to Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, revealed aspirations of wanting to learn both English and Kiswahili while becoming the first Asian player to ply his trade in the Kenyan top flight.

"Aiming to become the first Asian player in Kenya to sign a professional contract in the first division. To achieve this, I left my university club in the fourth year and joined J6.

“I am dedicated to working hard in Kenya and studying English and Swahili, all in pursuit of creating a society where everyone can continue to follow their dreams."

At Zenshin, a FKF Division Two side, Kusaba netted an impressive eight goals in 11 matches over four months, which caught the eye of City Stars' scouts, who then recommended the club signed him.

Kusaba is officially registered under the Japanese Football Association, which means that the transfer has to follow the matchings of the transfer matching system.
