A prankstar had claimed Dani Alves commited suicide in prison weeks after being sentenced to four and a half years in jail for being found guilty of rape.

Dani Alves' brother strongly criticized an online prankster whose false claims about Dani Alves committing suicide in prison went viral.

The footballer's press advisor, Acaz Felleger, indicated the possibility of taking legal action against Paulo Albuquerque, the Rio de Janeiro-based individual responsible for the misinformation.

Albuquerque, describing himself on X (formerly Twitter) as a lover of football, beer, and a beautiful woman, initially posted, "The information I'm receiving is that Daniel Alves has killed himself."

Later, he clarified in a follow-up post, "I was referring to my cousin Danielzinho from the city of Nova Iguacu, who had disappeared but has now been found alive."

Expressing his frustration on Instagram Live, Alves' brother Ney condemned the cruelty of those wishing harm to his brother.

Despite Alves' recent conviction for forcing himself on a woman in a Barcelona nightclub, Ney emphasized the family's belief in Alves' innocence, questioning the credibility of the conviction.

Ney exclaimed, "He's already been convicted. Is that not enough? Now the madness is people want him dead. How cruel is that! Do people like this not have family?"

Journalist Acaz Felleger, representing Dani Alves, denied the false suicide claims and expressed the intention to pursue legal action against Albuquerque. Felleger stated, "The information was posted on X without any basis whatsoever. I spoke with Dani's lawyer, and this irresponsible person should be sued."

While Dani Alves' model wife, Joana Sanz, has not commented on the situation, she shared a gym training photo on Instagram.

The 31-year-old had previously mentioned seeking a divorce from the footballer but put the decision on hold.

Alves, a father of two, received a four-and-a-half-year jail sentence on February 22 after a three-day trial in Barcelona for the alleged rape in a nightclub.

Despite the conviction, Alves and his lawyer plan to appeal, maintaining his innocence and claiming consensual relations with the accuser. State prosecutors and the victim's lawyer also plan to appeal, seeking a harsher sentence.
