Cristiano Ronaldo's heartwarming Christmas surprise for Marcelo's son Liam Alves highlights enduring friendship and holiday spirit in football.

Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has touched the hearts of fans worldwide by surprising his former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo's son, 8-year-old Liam Alves, with a priceless gift.

The heartwarming story unfolded on Monday when Liam received a signed shirt from Ronaldo, igniting joy and gratitude that was beautifully captured on Instagram.

Liam Alves, born in 2015, took to his Instagram account to express his gratitude to the iconic footballer, posting a picture of the special gift with a heartfelt caption that read, "Thank you so much Cris. I love you. You are my idol @cristiano.”

Ronaldo and Marcelo formed a formidable partnership on the football pitch during their time at Real Madrid, spanning nine memorable years from 2009 to 2018.

Together, they graced Los Blancos' left flank, delighting fans with their incredible teamwork and camaraderie.

Their partnership was not only marked by skill but also by the joy they brought to the game, often sharing celebrations and indulging in playful pranks during training sessions and team photoshoots.

During their time together, Ronaldo and Marcelo played a total of 332 matches, contributing significantly to the team's success. Cristiano Ronaldo scored an impressive 25 goals, while Marcelo added eight to the tally.

Despite parting ways almost six years ago, Ronaldo and Marcelo's friendship remains as strong as ever, with both players holding immense respect and admiration for each other.

While Ronaldo embarked on a new journey with Juventus after leaving Madrid in 2018, Marcelo continued to represent the Spanish giants.

However, Marcelo's time at Real Madrid eventually came to a close in 2022, capping off his tenure as a legend with impressive achievements, including winning the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles, despite not featuring in many matches during his final campaign.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, the 38-year-old forward, after mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United in November 2022, made a surprising move to the Saudi Pro League in January.

Speculations had swirled about the possibility of Marcelo joining his ex-teammate in the Middle East, but the Brazilian defender opted to return to his roots, choosing to play for Fluminense FC in Brazil.
