Cristiano Ronaldo watched from the sidelines due to suspension as his Al Nassr teammates sealed an important win against Al Fayha to book a Champions League spot.

Cristiano Ronaldo was full of praise for his Al Nassr teammates after they secured a spot in next season's AFC Champions League with an impressive 3-1 comeback win over Al Fayha on Friday night.

The Portuguese superstar was suspended for the crucial Saudi Pro League clash but watched from the sidelines as the Al Nassr squad, inspired by African star Sadio Mane and Abdulelah Al Amri, roared back from a goal down to claim all three points.

It was Zambian striker Fashion Sakala who put the visitors ahead after just six minutes, finishing superbly after some fine work by Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme.

However, Mane took centre stage in the second half after initially missing from 12 yards, netting a brace to turn the game on its head after Amri had cancelled Sakala’s opener to seal a top-four league finish for Al Nassr and a Champions League ticket.

With the likes of Mane, Amri and Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic also in the ranks, Al Nassr will be fancied to make a deep run in the prestigious tournament.

The Champions League qualification caps an impressive second season for Ronaldo in the Middle East following his controversial exit from Manchester United.
