Ronaldo's hat-trick leads Al Nassr to an 8-0 win against Abha, marking the heaviest defeat in Pitso Mosimane's coaching career.

South African gaffer Pitso Mosimane has opened up about the most significant defeat of his illustrious coaching career following a devastating 8-0 loss to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

The match, which took place on Tuesday night at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium saw Mosimane’s side Abha Club overwhelmed by a relentless Al Nassr with Ronaldo scoring a first-half hat-trick that propelled his team to a historic victory.

Mosimane, who assumed the helm of Abha Club in January with the primary goal of avoiding relegation, found his side embroiled in a nightmare scenario as they struggled to contain an inspired Ronaldo and his teammates.

In the aftermath of the defeat, Mosimane did not shy away from taking responsibility for the loss.

“I bear full responsibility. We must accept the loss after committing many mistakes, and we must learn from this harsh lesson,” he stated as per Yallakora.

Mosimane also expressed his sympathy towards young defender Mohammed Al Qahtani, who faced a tough night against the seasoned prowess of Ronaldo and his colleagues.

“Al Nassr gave us five goals with serious mistakes. I feel sorry for the player Mohammed Al Qahtani,” Mosimane added.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a signature long-range strike in the 11th minute, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

The former Manchester United striker continued to be a thorn in Abha’s side throughout the first half scoring two more goals to complete his hat-trick before the break.

The defeat poses a significant hurdle in Abha’s battle for survival in the top flight, leaving them languishing in 17th place, a precarious three points away from safety with just eight games remaining in the season.

The match leaves Abha’s prospects of retaining their Saudi Pro League status in jeopardy with the team needing to regroup quickly and address the shortcomings exposed by Al Nassr.
