Two years after Victor Osimhen broke the 33-year Scudetto drought, Napoli have been crowned champions of Italy once again
Napoli have been crowned champions of Italy once again, sealing their fourth Serie A title after a dramatic final day showdown with Cagliari.
Antonio Conte’s men held off Inter Milan by a single point, with Scott McTominay playing a vital role for the Partenopei and entering the history books with a feat no Scottish player has matched in over a century.
Conte completes Italian hat-trick as Napoli squeeze through
Antonio Conte has added Napoli to the list of Serie A clubs he’s guided to the summit after previous titles with Juventus and Inter. Napoli’s campaign went down to the wire, with Inter trailing by just one point heading into the final round of fixtures.

A potential play-off loomed if results swung the other way, but Napoli stayed composed, beating Cagliari 2-0 thanks to goals from McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, to secure the title with 82 points.
Conte, remarkably, has now won a top-flight title in his debut season at three different clubs: Juventus, Chelsea, and Napoli. And he did it the hard way.

Star winger Kvaratskhelia was sold midseason to PSG, and most of the funds weren’t reinvested, while the top scorer from their last title-winning season, Victor Osimhen, was exiled from the team at the start of the campaign.
Yet with Romelu Lukaku providing 14 goals and 10 assists, and McTominay starring in midfield, Napoli got over the line, becoming the lowest-scoring team to win Serie A in the 20-team era.
McTominay and Gilmour make Scottish history in Naples
Amidst the triumph, McTominay and Billy Gilmour have also ended a 120-year Scottish title drought in Italy, becoming the first players from their country to win Serie A since 1905.
McTominay, a €30.5m signing from Manchester United, was a vital part of Napoli’s Scudetto-winning side, bagging 12 goals and six assists from midfield and earning the nickname bottle opener for his important opening goals.
Gilmour, meanwhile, joined for €14m and quietly impressed late in the season, stepping up when the team needed him following key injuries.

Together, they have succeeded where Scottish legends like Denis Law and Graeme Souness fell short, bringing the Scudetto back to Naples.
