Collins Sichenje reminisces about his Kakamega High School days with Eric Ouma at the Harambee Stars training camp, ahead of their match against South Sudan.

Former AFC Leopards defender Collins Sichenje is basking in the camaraderie and nostalgia of the Harambee Stars training camp.

As the team preps for their upcoming international friendly against South Sudan, a recent snapshot caught the attention of fans and media alike.

The photo in question showcased a joyful moment shared between Sichenje and his former AIK teammate, Eric Ouma, now with Swedish top division's AIK.

The duo is seen in fits of laughter, while another Harambee Stars player, Amos Nondi, strikes a pose in the background.

What might seem like an ordinary training camp snapshot to many, held deeper significance for the pair.

“That Green Commandos S.C vibe Erick Marcelo Ouma reminded me what our Geography (Teacher) told us way sometime back,” Sichenje wrote.

For the uninitiated, the Green Commandos is not just any team; it is the famed football squad of Kakamega High School, where both Sichenje and Ouma honed their skills and built a friendship.

Sichenje, who is currently a part of the Finnish side, Kuopion Palloseura, has seen a dramatic shift in his football journey over the past year.

Joining the Finnish club on loan in March he managed to carve out a niche for himself, especially after experiencing limited game time at the Swedish side AIK.

Since his transfer to AIK in March 2022, he had only been fielded in a mere 12 matches. With AIK's defensive lineup bursting at the seams, it was clear that the talented 19-year-old needed a stage befitting his prowess.

Robin Tihi and Jetmir Haliti's presence at AIK added to the club's surfeit of defenders, making Sichenje's position at the club even more precarious.

Rumors swirled that clubs like Brommapojkarna and Helsingborgs IF were vying for the versatile player, whose prowess is not limited to defense.

He has demonstrated his ability to dominate the midfield, earning him praise from various quarters, notably from head coach Pasi Tuutti.

Since joining the Finnish side, Sichenje has been enjoying more game time, and expectations are rife that he will be a crucial player in the forthcoming match against South Sudan under the guidance of the Harambee Stars coach.
