Harambee Stars utility player Collins Sichenje wraps up his loan spell at KuPS FC, aiding their second-place finish and expressing gratitude.

Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje capped off his loan spell at KuPS FC from AIK in style, receiving the Young Player of The Season Award from the Finnish club.

Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) recently held their end-of-season awards ceremony, marking the conclusion of a remarkable 100th-anniversary season, and Sichenje's stellar performances did not go unnoticed.

Sichenje, a versatile player on loan from AIK Football, stood out with his remarkable contributions throughout the season, helping KuPS FC secure a commendable second-place finish and a coveted spot in the Europa Conference League qualification.

The young Kenyan expressed his joy and gratitude after being honored by the club, extending his thanks to the management and the fans who supported him during his loan period.

"Happy and honored to have scooped the Kuopion Palloseura Young Player of The Season Award," Sichenje exclaimed, reflecting on his journey in Finland. "It has been a wonderful season in Finland. Thanks to the club management and fans for the incredible support throughout the season."

Sichenje, known for his defensive prowess, featured in 20 matches for KuPS and played a crucial role in the team's impressive 11 clean sheets during the season.

In addition to Sichenje's recognition, Johannes Kreidl, the goalkeeper for KuPS, was named the "Best Player" of the season. Kreidl consistently excelled, earning the highest scores in Savon Sanomat's player evaluations for home matches.

His remarkable displays between the posts led to him being awarded the prestigious "Player of the Year" trophy by Savon Sanomat.

The Austrian goalkeeper made a name for himself with a series of dazzling saves, keeping 13 clean sheets and even making an unusual double penalty save during the season.

His contributions did not go unnoticed as the Football Journalists Association, Pallokopla, selected him as the goalkeeper for the 2023 All-Star team.

The 2023 league season reached a dramatic conclusion as KuPS faced Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi, ultimately securing valuable silver medals for their second-place finish.

The awards ceremony celebrated the standout performers of Kuopion Palloseura during their historic 100th-anniversary season.

Sichenje has now bid farewell to KuPS and returned to AIK after his successful loan spell.

The young midfielder from the Green Commandos was unveiled at AIK in May last year, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.
