The NWFL Club Owners Association (NWFLCOA) have applauded the African Football governing body (CAF) over new policy of male football club that will be playing the champions and confederations cup to have a female club.

CAF New Policy
According to a new rule for women's football that the African Football governing body announced to all member associations in 2022, a team must have a minimum of one women's first team participating in a competition that is sanctioned by the Member Association (NFF) in order to be eligible to compete in the CAF interclub competitions.

On its side, the Nigeria Football Federation informed clubs of the recent change in February 2023, stating that clubs wishing to participate in CAF inter-club competitions must have women's clubs.

Other representative in the CAF Champions League Remo Stars, might take over Lakeside women club. Lakeside competes in the NWFL Championship second Division and change the name to Remo Queens.

In CAF confederation cup, Rvers United has Rivers Angels who is owned by Rivers State Government.
The last ticket for confederation cup is between Bendel Insurance and Rangers who will slug it out at the Federation Cup final, Insurace has Edo Queens while Rangers having a women's team is not sure yet.
