Calvin Bassey mentions where Fulham must improve this season

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey discussed Fulham's failings in the defeat to Everton.

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey analysed their defeat to Everton, pointing out their individual and structural errors.

The 25-year-old was Fulham's Player of the Year last season, but he has not been as impactful this term, as the Cottagers have been shaky defensively.

They were beaten 2-0 by Everton in this weekend's clash, their sixth of the season in only 11 matches, and in a conversation with Sporty TV after the game, Bassey attempted to explain why they are struggling.

What Bassey said

The former Ajax defender said they prepared well for the game, but believes they could have been more dynamic and controlled it better.

“I mean, we knew this game was going to be a fight. Beto, Barry, they're all fighters, and they made life difficult for us,” he said. “We were prepared, and I just got a little knock, but I'm fine.

“I just think we could've been more dynamic, maybe in the first half. We could've controlled the game better. We had control, and we just kind of lost control again, and I mean, we just have to do better in set pieces.

"We've conceded 16 goals, and 10 of them have been from set pieces or personal errors, so we've got to do better. Now, it's time to go away, and for the boys to focus on the national team. It gives everyone a chance to breathe before we get on and back in the Prem.”
