Buisnessman promises each Flying Eagles player plot of land in Abuja if they win U20 World Cup

A buisnessman has promised a plot of land each for Nigeria's U20 players if they can win the World Cup. The Flying Eagles have never won it before, coming close in 1989 and 2005, losing both finals.

The Flying Eagles have been handed a massive boost at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup currently hosted by Argentina.

A certain business man named Aliyu Oroje Wammako who is president of Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria has promised each player a plot of land in Abuja should they win the World Cup.

Wammako, who is a die-hard football fan also promised the officials would eat out of the bunch when he visited the team at their base in Mendoza.

Ladan Bosso’s men started their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Dominican Republic in their first group match.

The African second runner-up will file out against Italy and either a win or a draw will guarantee their place in the round of 16 before playing their final group game against Brazil.

Nigeria in the history of the U20 World Cup

Nigeria has never won the FIFA U20 World Cup in their history and the closest they came was in the 1989 and 2005 editions where they lost in the finals.

The Flying Eagles were defeated by Portugal by 2-0 in the final in Saudi 89’ while the 2005 team led by Isaac Promise lost 2-1 to Argentina with Lionel Messi scoring both goals.

The 2005 edition produced players like Mikel Obi, Taiye Taiwo, Chinedu Obasi who all featured for the Olympic and Super Eagles teams in their respective careers.

Ghana is the only African team to have won the competition in the 2009 edition, beating Brazil in the finals via penalties. The team was led by current Black Stars captain Andre Ayew.
