Rooney hails Mbeumo as Manchester United's best signing

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has lauded Bryan Mbeumo as the club's "best signing" of the season, highlighting the forward's important role in the team's resurgence under manager Ruben Amorim.

The Cameroon international has been instrumental in a run of three consecutive victories against Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton, quickly endearing himself to the Old Trafford faithful following his summer transfer from Brentford.

Mbeumo's impact has been immediate. He scored in a dramatic 3-2 win over Burnley on August 30th before netting the opening goal in United's first victory at Anfield since 2016 on October 19th.

He continued his stellar form with a brace in the 4-2 triumph over Brighton on Saturday, a result that has significantly lifted the mood around the club.

What Rooney said

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the club's all-time leading goalscorer praised Mbeumo's consistency above all else.

"Mbeumo has been consistent with his performances, I think that's the main thing," Rooney said

He added, "If you're consistently getting in the right positions, getting chances, you will score. When you're a forward and you score goals, you enjoy scoring goals, and that feeling keeps going. His confidence is very high at the moment. Hopefully that continues because he's certainly been the best signing for United this season."

Meanwhile, manager Ruben Amorim echoed Rooney's praise after the Brighton match, describing the No. 19 as a "working machine."

"He’s so good in transitions. He’s improving when we are organising the final third. The connection with Amad, it’s really hard to beat these two guys because they change position, they are really fast, they are good in one against one," Amorim explained.

Manchester United will aim to extend their winning streak to four Premier League games when they travel to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
