Barcelona's Ansu Fati will miss this weekend's match against Almeria through injury
Barcelona’s 20-year-old sensation Ansu Fati has suffered another injury setback while training with the club.
Ansu Fati set to miss Barcelona’s weekend action
The club announced on Twitter that Fati suffered a knee contusion during training on Friday, but did not specify when the forward will be back from the injury.
The club’s statement read, “Ansu Fati suffered a left knee contusion during this afternoon’s training session. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.”
Knee contusions can take a few days to weeks to recover from so it is impossible to put a specific date on Fati’s return currently, but it is inevitable that he will miss at least one game for Barcelona.
Fati will miss Barcelona’s La Liga fixture against Almeria this weekend and is doubtful for the Catalans' semifinal first leg against Real Madrid on Thursday.
Fati’s struggles with injuries
Ansu Fati has recently struggled to find his best form for Barcelona after suffering a series of injuries that have heavily impacted his game.
After bursting onto the scene with Barcelona, Fati’s stock grew with a number of impressive performances for the Blaugrana ad even became the youngest player to score for Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, but his progress has been hampered by injuries.
He missed almost a year of football after being injured for 305 days between 2020 and 2021 and has hardly been the same player since.
He only played 10 matches in the 2021/22 season due to injury, starting only three of those and amassing only 574 minutes in all competitions.
This season, he has only played a bit-part role for Barcelona and despite playing 34 matches in all competitions, he has only started in 10 games and has played less than 900 minutes of LaLiga football.
