Barcelona president Joan Laporta talks about a failed move for a Manchester City star.

The president of the newly crowned LaLiga champions, Joan Laporta, is already speaking about their plans for the future transfer windows, but recently he spoke about a missed opportunity in the past.

The Barcelona manager revealed that he was close to bringing Manchester City's Bernardo Silva to Barcelona before the midfielder moved to the Premier League.

What Laporta said

The administrator was speaking today as Barcelona continued their league ambitions when he was asked about their transfer plans for the summer.

He was asked about a specific player, Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Spain when he revealed he was once close to bringing the player to Barca in 2015.

Although he was not the club's president at the time, Laporta was in the polls to be the Blaugrana president for a second stint, however, he lost to Josep Maria Bartomeu.

He revealed that he held a meeting with the player's agent that year, and Bernardo's move to Barcelona was nearly a done deal. He also suggested they will go again for him this summer if LaLiga accepts their viability plan.

“Bernardo Silva? We will see how La Liga will react to our viability plan. In 2015, Bernardo to Barça was almost a done deal… I was in Portugal with his agent," Laporta revealed.

“He’s a top, top player but he’s Man City player. Nothing to say."

Meanwhile, Barcelona winger Raphinha already has next season's successes on his mind after Barcelona's league win, despite strong links away from the club
