Memphis Depay went off injured in the Netherlands' victory over Gibraltar.

Atletico Madrid striker Memphis Depay joins a rising list of players who have suffered injuries over the course of the international break.

Depay signed for Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, and his arrival has coincided with Los Rojiblancos' form. They risk losing the 28-year-old for some time after he came off injured today in action for the Netherlands.

The striker got the first goal of the game for Ronald Koeman's side, giving the hosts a 32-minute lead on a Denzel Dumfries assist.

Netherland went on to score two more goals, thanks to a brace by Ake in the second half, but their star man, Delay, was substituted around the hour mark for David Klassen after feeling discomfort.

As reported by Relevo, the striker left for the dressing room not too long after his substitution, clutching the back of his right thigh.

The extent of his injury is unknown at this time, but the player will return to Atletico Madrid for tests to be taken.

The Netherlands already had to navigate their two matches this international break without Frenkie de Jong and Steven Bergwijn due to injury before they were dealt a further blow when five of their players left camp after a viral outbreak.

As we reported in detail here, Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt, Newcastle's Sven Botman, PSV Eindhoven's Joey Veerman, and Anderlecht's Bart Verbruggen left the Netherlands camp after suffering from a virus.

The illness-related camp further depleted a Dutch squad that was already missing key midfielder Frenkie de Jong due to a thigh injury and Steven Bergwijn due to a knee problem.
