Atletico Madrid CEO, Angel Gil Marin, believes Angel Correa's red card against Real Madrid was unjust.

Atletico Madrid's CEO, Angel Gil Marin, has accused Real Madrid of pressuring referees, leading his club to have unfavourable refereeing decisions against their regional rivals.

Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, but they had to do it with a numerical disadvantage after Angel Correa was sent off for a foul on Antonio Rudiger.

Angel Correa was sent off in the 64th minute of the game after he drove his elbow into Rudiger's stomach. Atletico Madrid went ahead in the 78th minute of the game from a Jose Maria Gimenez header, but substitute Alvaro Rodriguez pulled his club level.

The Rojiblancos' club CEO felt hard done by the arbitration in the game, saying Correa's expulsion was unjust.

He claims that being on the wrong end of unfavourable refereeing decisions is common when his team plays Real Madrid, reiterating a similar stance he took a few weeks ago.

"It is not worth insisting more.” Marin said, per Marca

“I already said it a few weeks ago and I confirm it word for word. Yesterday it was more of the same again. It is unfortunate! We always suffer from this type of performances against this team due to the pressure that is constantly exerted on the arbitration team.

“It is not reasonable that it is so difficult for a referee to send off one of their players even though the play is clear and without room for interpretation, as happened in our last game in this same field, and that yesterday it was so easy to unjustly sack Ángel Correa.”

Gil Marin on the Negreira case

The Atletico Madrid CEO is one of the most outspoken parties requesting a serious probe into the facts of the Negreira case, in which Barcelona were implicated in a refereeing-related scandal.

Marin led the petition to LaLiga for a statement to be put out to such effect, with all clubs obliging except for Barcelona themselves and Real Madrid.

He believes the case dents the image of LaLiga and its credibility, and he believes the truth must be ascertained so that the integrity of the commotion is not in doubt.

“The integrity of the competition cannot be in doubt. If the fans come to question the integrity of the game, we are all superfluous. In recent weeks we have had access to very relevant information that requires a serious investigation. We have no choice but to get to the bottom of this matter.

“This is what all the LaLiga clubs have demanded except for two: the club that must be investigated and one more. I am convinced that our football deserves that we all work together so that there is not a single doubt or a single suspicion. I plan to continue doing so and I hope that, at least on that, we can all agree.”

His Atletico Madrid will look to get back to winning ways when they host Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano next Saturday.
